Full Circle Bicycle

Full Circle is a sleek folding bike that dispenses with the traditional chain, and instead uses a free wheel gear. And it is simple!
Designed by designer Sanghyun Jeong and Jun-Tae Park from korea.
“‘full circle’ is a compact-sized city bike that has a large wheel size (508mm, 20”) like a sprinter minivelo. this specification makes this bike easy to navigate through a big city like seoul, while most compact bikes that have small wheels have difficulty. in short, this is a small bike with big wheels. ‘full circle’ does not have chains, but free wheel gear directly connected to its pedals. it just looks like a fixed gear, but it isn’t. ‘full circle’ has a very simple folding structure, so the ride can easily and quickly fold and unfold the body in a busy downtown, even on the subway. most of its parts can be folded, including the saddle and handle bars”

Digital Smart Finger

finger
Not available in stores (yet), but this device would definitely help the ‘not-so-handy’ men like myself around the house. Cool concept.
Smart Fingers turn your hands into ruler. It uses two fingers, the pair of plastic tubes slip over your real fingers and measure the distance between themselves. The distance is displayed on the side of one of the fingers, you can store it in memory for transfer to a PC.
Designed by Choi Hyong-Suk, Jung Ji-hye, and Yoo-Jin Park. Currently it is just a concept.

Bullet Train for the United Kingdom

Although ‘bullet’ train is not really the correct term anymore, people in Japan, France and Germany, among a select few countries – have enjoyed the convenience of high speed trains for some time now.

Now it seems as though the U.K. seems set to join their ranks with this new ‘Mercury’ high speed train designed by Priestmangoode.

Whether you travel from Tokyo to Osaka, Paris to London or New York to D.C., taking the train is a cost effective alternative that saves more than just money on the ticket. It gets you from one city center to another, without the wasted time of check-in, and having to find alternate means of transport from an airport into the city.
Plus…they sure look more comfortable than flying coach!
Their 400 metre-long, double-decker train would travel at 225 mph and have one of the longest nose sections in the world.
The interior would have areas with commuter seats and private berths, a childrens play area, and lounge and bar.interior
Here is some more info straight from the designers -
Britain’s leading transport designer has unveiled his concept for the UK’s new high speed train in a pre-emptive move to persuade the government of the urgent need to move forward as soon as possible with the project.

Paul Priestman of Priestmangoode, designer of the iconic Virgin Pendolino train, believes that the new high speed train is vital for the future of Britain, both as the low-carbon, sustainable transport of the future and as a crucial opportunity to champion British design and engineering in an increasingly competitive global economy.

Priestman believes his concept, Mercury, could be the new Great British design icon, following in the footsteps of Concorde, the Spitfire, Rolls Royce and the Routemaster bus and reawakening Britain’s authority as a global leader in design and technology.

Currently working with Sifang to design high speed trains for China and the rest of the world, Priestman believes that whilst the economic and political benefits of a world-class high speed rail network are clearly understood, having a train to be proud of is equally important. He believes that an iconic design is imperative in order to show Britain’s credentials to the world and in the battle to make Britain’s transport infrastructure more sustainable – by persuading people to leave their cars at home, eschew domestic air travel and make rail their first choice.

“It’s shameful that in the 21st century when we have to compete more than ever with the rest of the world, we don’t have a modern day global transport design icon to fly the flag for British industry.” says Priestman.

“Britain has an unrivalled record of great transport engineering projects – a record that died with Concorde. If we are to operate in a global design marketplace, we need to re-establish that influence by producing world-beating designs, moving the British engineering industry forward again and giving the country a much needed boost.

“But we also need to persuade people to travel by train to achieve a successful low-carbon economy. To do that, train travel needs to be as exciting as air travel and as sexy as the latest car. Not only does it need to be fast, it needs to be modern, luxurious, exciting and stylish. Mercury is all those things”.

About Mercury:

Mercury will be the first double-decker train to operate in the UK, with a unique interior design that Priestman believes will revolutionise domestic rail travel.

Introducing an entirely new concept in the way we travel, the train will incorporate a flexible, open plan design allowing for interaction, space and relaxation without compromising privacy. Both commuting and longer haul journeys will be more relaxed, comfortable and akin to modern living, featuring traditional commuter seats (designed to incorporate in-transit entertainment systems) alongside private berths – for families, private parties or business meetings echoing the nostalgia of compartmental train travel. A children’s play area will be integrated into the train and a luxury first class section will mirror the choice offered to air travellers with a luxury lounge and bar.

The exterior of the train, designed to emulate design classics such as Concorde, the Spitfire and Rolls Royce, will be 400 metres long and the extended nose section will be one of the most extreme in the world – vitally important for the aerodynamics of a train which will travel at 225mph.

Peugeot Concept Bike

French carmaker, PEUGEOT recently produced this bicycle. Now I don’t remember the last time I rode a bike, but this looks incredible!
conceptbike
It doesn’t even have a chain!
bike
Peugeot B1K Bicycle Concept | Since its invention, the bicycle really hasn’t changed much. Its basic components remain the same– a pair of wheels, a crank-driven drivetrain, a frame, a seat and some handlebars. The components themselves have evolved, but the basic song has gone unchanged. The design team at Peugeot Bikes, however, have created a bike concept so alien to our eyes that change may be on the horizion. The Peugeot B1K Bicycle Concept takes on the traditional bike format by adding a chain-free drivetrain, removing the down tube and giving it a fierce new design that is as progressive as they come.
concept
The Peugeot B1K Bike Concept is a carbon-constructed race bike built for the track or the urban pavement. The rider’s torso is angled downward toward the pavement ahead, reducing drag and providing improvements in weight balance and power transfer. The chainless drivetrain looks amazing, but details on its efficiency have not been revealed. The lack of a down tube on the frame leads to questions about its rigidity, as the bike may flex during use. Any racer will tell you– as light as a feather and as stiff as a board, the better. But the design itself leads us to give Peugeot the benefit of any doubt, as this design is easily the sexiest we’ve seen yet in 2010, and high up in the running (er, riding) for 2009.
