Islands

Vacationing on an island is how the uber-rich spend their leisure time. Indulging in a relaxing resort-style experience will get even richer with the Floating Pleasure islands concept by Marina Housing, a company based in Espoo, Finland, which specializes in developing floating housing areas and other floating structures. The islands are anchored to the seabed with seaflex rubber cable anchors. The floating islands rise along with the water level, but do not interfere with the water currents owing to their heavy-duty eps-filled concrete platform, which makes the structure very stable. The islands are landscaped with artificial beaches, hills and growing soil for palms and growing other plants. All the islands have a mooring place for six tenders or small boats and islands B and C can even dock a 60-foot yacht for easy accessibility. The floating islands have the potential to become the hottest destination with the uber-rich if it’s actually developed in the future.

This Boat is Not Sinking…really

The Sinking Love Boat.
Named the LOVE LOVE, this boat is designed to look like its sinking while in actuality it is fully seaworthy and safe. Nice concept, sure to turn heads everywhere it goes/sails.
This ship isn’t sinking. It’s “Love, Love” by Julien Berthier, a boat that’s been modified to appear as though it’s capsizing. The ship was originally a 6.5 meter yacht that was sliced in half and outfitted with a new keel which keeps it upright at all times. Apparently it’s actually seaworthy, and he has toured it around Europe. Watch the video of it in action after more. Berthier writes:
“Love-love is the permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object. “

Eco-City

New Dome Covered City in Siberia. Will fit 100,000 inhabitants.
A Russian company has unveiled plans to built a 100,000-person domed city in an abandoned Mir diamond mine in Siberia. The city named Eco-city 2020. The Mir diamond mine is the second largest excavated hole in the world, quarter-mile wide and over 1,700 feet deep, the mine would be completely covered over with a glass dome to protect the city from the weather in Siberia, and the solar cells embedded in the dome would power the city. Designers AB Elise explained:
“The new city is planned to be divided in 3 main levels with a vertical farm, forests, residences, and recreational areas. On of the most interesting aspects of the proposal is the glass dome that will protect the city and would be covered by photovoltaic cells that will harvest enough solar energy for the new development. “
An estimated 100,000 people would be able to live in Eco-city, and architects are hoping that it would help to attract tourists to Eastern Siberia
