download – Blind Date (graded reader preview)
BLIND DATE, written by me, edited by the excellent Rob Cvitkovic aka Bob Coffee.
It’s a ‘graded reader’, meaning that it’s a short novel written for learners of English as a second language. This one’s a beginner level book. It has already gone to use in University here in Japan!
Two more are currently in print – SECRETS and HOCHIKISS – for Intermediate and Advanced readers, respectively.
All should be available for iBooks at some point as well. So, if you have an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, download a preview here! (that’s just the intro, the meat & bones – the date, you gotta get the book for!) Or come see me in person for a copy!
To view on your device just hook it up in your iTunes, then drag and drop the file into the device, it should automatically show up in the iBooks app. The file format is – .epub. Or if you already have a iBooks folder in iTunes, just drop it in there and sync your device. Kindle user? Sorry, you gotta wait…
Physical copies are available, contact if interested. Hopefully they’ll be available on Amazon.com before too long as well 
Roderick X The Source
If you know hip-hop, chances are you know about ‘The Source‘. Source magazine was originally published in the States some 22 years ago I believe, and while it went through some turbulent times later in its existence – for many years it was considered the monthly Hip-Hop bible to kids and young adults all over. ‘The Source’ had a Japanese language version of the magazine out in Japan, and it was great for me, after having always read the credits in the back of the magazine as a youngster – to find my name among album production credits as an adult

The ESL videos I’ve posted so far? Written by me. Which might be good or bad depending on how you judge them
I also wrote a whole bunch of short novels. So far, three have gone to print. By an independent publisher, but they got the isbn number and everything. They are currently working on getting the books up on Amazon, as well as possibly securing wider distribution through traditional channels like Oxford, McGraw Hill, Longman-Pearson and Cambridge.
They are “Graded Readers” geared towards a young adult or grown up audience. These books are strictly PG-13 or R rated. Traditionally readers for language learners are extremely tedious or aimed at children, this for people who want to be entertained while learning. Audio versions are also available.
The easiest, language wise is Blind Date, a comedy about a hopelessly mismatched pair on a disastrous date.
Next up is SECRETS…a soapish drama, sleazy, tacky, suspenseful…and funny. Involving several couples, you never know what’s gonna happen next. Shout out to R Kelly for inspiring these (!)
The longest one is a dramedy set in an office which takes place over summer, jumping back and forth in time. HOCHIKISS (hope they change the title..OG title was WORK, but the editor changed it for Japan — Hochikiss, or hochikisu, means staples in Japanese. The story happens to be set at a Staples office supply type company).
The books were edited by my good neighbor from Canada, Mr. Bob Coffee (known for his scene stealing appearance in the ENGLISH DIARY video…LOL).
